Meet Maureen

After having lived in many cities along West Coast, Maureen is happy with her family among the towering firs and misty rains of the Pacific Northwest.

Born in Los Angeles, she was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and graduated from UC Santa Barbara. Realizing her options with an English degree were limited, she enrolled in UC Berkeley’s journalism school and went on to earn a master’s degree there, which led to jobs as both a reporter and freelance writer for numerous newspapers and magazines.

It was while studying English literature and history that she fell in love not only with Tom, her future husband, but also with eighteenth-century and Regency England. Maureen’s lifelong love of mysteries prompted her passion for writing in that genre as well.

In addition to her writing, Maureen works as an editor for a company that produces education-related Web content. When she’s not working she likes to read, prowl through used book stores, walk her rambunctious Sheltie and spend time with her husband and two grown sons.

Her first novel, Lord Peter's Page, received wide acclaim and took first place in a Regency novel contest, Top O' The Trees, sponsored by The Regency Plume.  Since that time, Maureen has written five Regency romances, three mysteries, a contemporary love story and one holiday novella. Maureen is now completing another Regency novella and working on a new mystery.

"Maureen Mackey does a stellar job at rendering an engaging tale while keeping true to proper etiquette and manner that was so rampant in the Regency era," said Amy Cunningham at Romance Reviews Today.
